US, South Korea begin military exercises

Seoul, Mar 7 (IBNS) The US ans South Korea commenced their annual joint military exercises on Monday.

South Korea and the United States kicked off their largest-ever annual joint military exercises on Monday with a special focus on bolstering the allies' wartime capability to launch precision strikes on North Korea's top leadership, officials were quoted as saying by Yonhap News agency.

Amid increasing military tensions between North and South Korea, the  Key Resolve and Foal Eagle exercises began from Monday.

North Korea has threatened "indiscriminate" nuclear strikes against South Korea and the US if they push ahead with joint military drills, BBC reported.

Some 300,000 South Korean troops are participating in the exercise, reports said.
