US wants Pakistan to act fast against Pathankot terror attack perpetrators

Washington/Islamabad, Jan 9 (IBNS) Talking tough on the Pak terrorists' attack on Pathankot Air Force base, the US has asked Pakistan to act fast on the perpetrators of the attack, reports said.

The US state department feels that Pakistan has to walk the talk on the promises it made – both in public and in private conversations – that there would be no discrimination in its action against terrorist networks and bring the perpetrators of the Pathankot attack to justice.

As  Indian intelligence reports that groups and people within Pakistan planned and executed the strike on the Pathankot airbase, a senior State Department official said Pakistan should not come out with lame excuses to shield them.

“They (Pakistan) have said publicly that they are going to investigate. They have said publicly that they are not going to discriminate between terrorist groups. We look to see actions to back up those words,” the official said.

Meanwhile,  Pakistan has sought 'concrete' evidence from India instead of 'leads' to initiate action against the perpetrators of the Pathankot IAF base terror attack, Pakistani website Dawn reports.

The report quotes a senior government official as saying that Islamabad 'needs concrete evidence from New Delhi for acting against the elements it suspects of being involved in the attack'.

"We are expecting evidence beyond leads and information to proceed as per our law," the official, who attended yesterday's high-level meet chaired by PM Nawaz Sharif to discuss his country's response, said.

According to a statement issued by PM Sharif's office, the meeting discussed the Pathankot attack incident and reiterated Islamabad's commitment to cooperate with India to complete the investigation. The Pakistani Premier and his aides also agreed to launch investigations into the evidence provided by India.

The Pathankot attack was carried by six terrorists, all of whom were eliminated after a three-day battle. Altogether seven Indian security personnel, including a Lt.Col of the National Security Guard were also martyred.
