We can take oil, make a fortune: Donald Trump issues explosive threat over Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States could reopen the Strait of Hormuz “with a little more time,” while also hinting that Iran’s power infrastructure could be targeted next.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “With a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, & MAKE A FORTUNE. IT WOULD BE A ‘GUSHER’ FOR THE WORLD.”

However, he did not specify a timeline or outline how the US would take control of the crucial waterway.

Power plants ‘next’

In a separate post, Trump suggested that further military action could be directed at Iran’s infrastructure.

“Our Military, the greatest and most powerful (by far!) anywhere in the World, hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran. Bridges next, then Electric Power Plants! New Regime leadership knows what has to be done, and has to be done, FAST!” he said.

Strategic importance of the Strait

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most critical chokepoints in global energy trade, with nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply passing through it.

Its importance is particularly significant for India. Around 40% of India’s crude oil imports, 50% of its LNG supplies, and over 80% of its LPG shipments transit through the strait, making any disruption a major concern for energy security and price stability.

The current closure comes amid escalating regional tensions, after Iran moved to shut the passage following military actions involving the United States and Israel.
