IPL: Dinesh Karthik to lead Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata, Mar 4 (IBNS): Bengal based Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders announced on Sunday that experienced Indian wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik will lead the side for the 2018 edition.

" Experienced wicket-keeper batsman, @DineshKarthik will lead the men in Purple and Gold for VIVO @IPL 2018. ," a Twitter post of the franchise read.

Speaking about his new job, Karthik said, "It's a massive opportunity for me personally. I am very happy and really excited because it's a massive franchise."

Reflecting on his side's composition, Karthik said it's a young side with lots of exciting players.

He also urged the fans to keep supporting his side and be with his team throughout the tournament.

The 2018 edition of the IPL is scheduled to take place from Apr 7 to May 27.

While Mumbai and Chennai will play the inaugural match at the Wankhade in the former's home ground, Kolkata will face-off against Virat Kohli-led Bengaluru side at the Eden Gardens on Apr 8.
