Afghanistan: Blast in Kabul leaves 1 foreign national dead

Kabul/IBNS: A blast in Afghanistan's Kabul city on Sunday left one foreign national killed, media reports said.

The hand grenade attack occurred in Kabul’s police district 9 (PD9) near Makrorayan area.

According to reports, the target of the attack was a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) vehicle.

Ministry of Interior spokesman Nusrat Rahimi told Tolo News five people were wounded and one foreign national was killed. 

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) confirmed that one of its employees was killed in the incident.

"It is with profound sadness that the UN family in Afghanistan confirms the killing tonight of a colleague, as well as injuries to two others, when a UN-marked vehicle was attacked in Kabul," UNAMA said in a statement.
