Afghanistan: Six killed in suicide bomb attack
Kabul/UNI: As many as six people were killed and 12 others wounded after a suicide bomber blew himself outside a military university on the western side of the Afghan capital Kabul on Tuesday, Afghan Ministry of Interior confirmed.
The dead included the suicide bomber.
"One suicide bomber detonated his explosives at approximately 7:00 a.m. (local time) in Char Rahi Qambar locality, Police District 5. The blast killed three military personnel along with two civilians. The blast also injured 12 people, including five civilians, "the ministry's spokesman Nasrat Rahimi wrote on Twitter.
The spokesman added that the number of casualties was likely to rise.
The explosion also damaged several vehicles running along the busy road, they said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The same university was attacked by a suicide bomber in late May last year, and Islamic State (IS) militants claimed responsibility for the bombing.
This is the first major attack on the capital Kabul in months.
Today's attack comes at a time when Washington and the Taliban were trying to negotiate a possible deal that would allow US troops to leave Afghanistan in return for security guarantees.
