Ahead of talks with Pakistan PM Imran Khan, Donald Trump offers to 'help' on Kashmir issue again

Davos/IBNS: Despite repeated mentions by India that Kashmir is a bilateral issue, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday once again said he was ready to 'help' solve the dispute related to the region between neighbouring India and Pakistan.

This was his fourth such offer since August.

With Imran Khan sitting beside him ahead of their talks on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, Trump told media: "Trade is going to be of very, very paramount importance," Trump told media.

"We are working together on some borders, and we are talking about Kashmir in relation to what is going on with Pakistan and India," the US President said.

"And if we can help we certainly will be helping,” Trump said.

The Indian government in August scrapped Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two union territories.

The relationship between India and Pakistan touched news lows following the Indian government's move of scrapping Article 370.
