Former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India last month, and 134 others were sued over the death of  Jatiyatabadi activist Sramik Dal during a violent mass movement in the country recently which led to the ouster of the ex-Awami League government.

The case was filed by the victim's brother Rubel Talukder with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saddam Hossain.

After hearing, the magistrate directed the officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station to register the case as a first information report (FIR), The Daily Star reported.

Sheikh Hasina, who was the longest-serving PM of the country, is currently facing 150 cases, including 133 for murders, seven for crimes against humanity and genocide, three for abduction, six for attempted murder and one for attack on a BNP procession.

Bangladesh witnessed political turmoil recently when a protest against job quotas spiralled into an anti-government movement and led to the toppling of PM Sheikh Hasina and her administration.

Hasina fled to India.

An interim government under the leadership of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus took charge days after she escaped from Bangladesh.
