China: 5.5 earthquake hits Xinjiang, no casualty
Beijing, Sept 4 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday.
No casualty or damage to property has been reported so far.
The quake jolted Jiashi County in Kashgar Prefecture in Xinjiang at 5:52 a.m. Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), reported Xinhua news agency of China.
The epicenter was monitored at 39.51 degrees north latitude and 76.98 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 8 km, the center said in a statement, reported the news agency.
Rescue officials have been sent to the region, reports said.
