A four-party alliance on Sunday protested against alleged rigging in the recently held national polls by blocking roads in Balochistan, media reports said.

A wheel-jam strike and protest has been underway in Quetta and other cities of Balochistan on the call of a four-party alliance, comprises of BNP-Mengal, Pashtunkhwa MAP, the National Party and Hazara Democratic Party, reported ARY News.

Protesters blocked the National Highway with hurdles at N-65 Naari over alleged rigging claims.

The alliance also blocked Sohbatpur.

During the protest, demonstrators closed the Quetta-Karachi National Highway at Mughal Chowk in Kalat for traffic.

Pakistan polls

Pakistan voted to elect a new government on February 8.

However, the country plunged into a political crisis with none of the political outfits winning the majority needed to form the government.

Political parties are now trying to forge an alliance and secure 169 seats needed to secure a majority in the 336-member lower house of parliament.
