Giant feline breaks the internet, to be named the world's longest cat by Guinness

Melbourne, May 19 (IBNS): A supersized cat from Melbourne, Australia, is the latest thing to hit the internet.

Omar, a Maine Coon male cat has won the hearts of netizens and is tipped to be the world's longest cat when Guinness officials confirm it later.

The cat, who weighs a massive 14 kilos, is twice the weight of an average Maine Coon, native to North America.

The owner, Stephy Hirst said that the feline is facing difficulties coping with the attention.

"He hasn't really been coping with all the attention," she told BBC.

Omar was a regular size kitten when Stephy first brought him home in 2013, but outgrew his breed eventually.

The cat loves to gorge on raw kangaroo meat.

"We buy human-grade kangaroo meat at the supermarket," Stephy said.

"It's the only meat we could find that he actually wants to eat," she added.

Omar first came into the limelight after his photos were shared on Instagram.

The cat even has his own Instagram account and has over 36,000 followers.

The current Guinness World Record for the longest cat belongs to a Maine Coon from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, who measures 118cm (3ft 10.5in).

Omar measures 120cm (3ft 11in).
