I can't breathe: Jamal Khashoggi's last words disclosed
Washington, Dec 10 (IBNS): Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi said that he could not breathe before he was allegedly killed by a Saudi hit squad at the country's consulate in Istanbul in October, CNN reported.
"I can't breathe." These were the final words uttered by Jamal Khashoggi after he was set upon by a Saudi hit squad at the country's consulate in Istanbul, according to a source briefed on the investigation into the killing of the Washington Post columnist, reported the American TV in its report.
The source, who has read a translated transcript of an audio recording of Khashoggi's painful last moments, told CNN it was clear that the killing on Oct 2 was no botched rendition attempt, but the execution of a premeditated plan to murder the journalist.
Khashoggi went missing on Oct 2. He was last seen alive entering the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul.
He lived in a self imposed exile and was a fierce critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, questioning his 'one man show' tactics.
The journalist was visiting the consulate to get paperwork for his upcoming marriage.
