Malala Yousafzai visits Swat Valley in Pakistan

Islamabad, Mar 31 (IBNS): For the first time since she was shot by Taliban terrorists,  Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai visited Mingora her hometown in Swat Valley on Saturday, media reports said.

Malala was accompanied by State Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, her family and others as she travelled by an army helicopter from Islamabad to Swat, Geo News reported.

She reportedly met her family and friends in the Valley.

“My first visit to Swat valley after 5 and a half years since the attack. I have never felt so happy. I am proud of my land and culture. The Cadet College is beautiful and I thank the staff and principal for welcoming me. Best wishes and prayers,” Malala wrote in the guest book of the Swat Cadet College Guli Bagh as reported by Geo News.

Malala was quoted as saying that she was happy to return in Swat Valley.

She returned to Pakistan on Thursday.

During this visit, Malala met Pakistan PM  Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Malala received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.

She was shot by Taliban terrorists in 2012 when she was returning from school in Swat region of the country.

After initial treatment in Pakistan, she was later flown to London.

The incident was condemned internationally.
