Manchester attack: UK police arrest seven in connection with bombing

London, May 25 (IBNS): The UK police have arrested at least seven people in connection with the Manchester suicide attack which killed 22 people and injured 64 others at an Ariana Grande concert on Monday, reports said.

The incident took place at the Manchester Arena following a suicide attack by Salman Abedi.

Meanwhile, the attacker's father Ramadan and younger brother Hashem have been detained in Tripoli by militia, a BBC report read.

UK police have also arrested Abedi's older brother Ismail, from Chorlton, south Manchester on Tuesday.

While deeming the recent attack as 'critical', the highest form of terror threat, UK Prime Minister Theresa May has said that she'll deploy soldiers in key posts, who'll work under the command of police officials and ensure public protection.

May, in her statement also said that she does not want the public to feel "unduly alarmed" but added that the step was "proportionate and sensible response".

This is the third time UK has deemed an attack as the highest level of threat.

Meanwhile, the UK government has reacted sharply to the leaked photos by US daily New York Times.

Publishing the photos gathered by UK authorities from the scene of attack, the US daily said that the evidence suggests "a powerful, high-velocity charge, and a bomb in which its shrapnel was carefully and evenly packed".

The UK is viewing the matter as a breach of trust on the part of UK-US relationship.

"This damage is even greater when it involves unauthorised disclosure of potential evidence in the middle of a major counter terrorism investigation," a British counter-terrorism spokesperson was quoted as saying by the BBC.
