Move against Hafiz Saeed is policy decision, says DG ISPR

Islamabad, Jan 31 (IBNS): Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed has been kept under house arrest due to policy decision.

"This was a policy decision taken by the state in the national interest and several institutions will have to play their role. This news came yesterday and in the coming days more details will be available,” DG ISPR was quoted as saying by Geo News.

He said the move was not taken under foreign pressure.

Saeed has been placed under house arrest at Jamia Qadsia Chauburji in Lahore, sources told Geo News.

According to media reports, four others, who have been identified as  Abdullah Ubaid, Zafar Iqbal, Abdur Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Niaz, have also been taken into preventive custody.

Saeed is said to be the  2008 Mumbai attack mastermind.
