Nepal: Three bombs recovered from Pokhara
Pokhra, May 27 (IBNS): A day after multiple bomb blasts rocked Kathmandu city, officials found three bombs from different parts of the Himalayan city of Pokhra in Nepal on Monday, media reports said.
According to local media reports, one of the bombs was planted on the footpath in front of the Ncell office at Srijana Chowk in Pokhara Metropolitan City- 8 of Kaski district.
The pressure cooker bomb was very powerful and possibly planted by the cadres of Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal, police told The Himalayan Times.
Bomb disposal team of Nepal Army later disposed the bomb.
Locals and the Ncell staff had informed the police after they found the suspected object on Monday.
According to The Himalayan Times report, another explosive device was found near Durbar Party Palace at Durbar Marga of Pokhara Metropolis-9. Security personnel took the area under control and Nepal Army’s bomb disposal team reached the site for bomb disposal.
Another bomb was found along the Bhupi Sherchan Highway at Nagdanda in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski district. Nepal Police cordoned off the area for security purposes and to disable the explosive, reported the newspaper.
Spokesperson at Kaski District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Man Gurung told the the newspaper that security has been beefed up across Pokhara after the bombs were recovered from the city.
Pokhara is a popular tourist destination in Nepal.
