Tel Aviv, Apr 9 (Sputnik/UNI) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday announced the victory of the right-wing camp in parliamentary elections in Israel and his intention to start forming the ruling coalition in the coming hours.

"The right-wing bloc, led by the Likud, won a clear victory. I thank the citizens of Israel for their trust. Already at night, I will start forming the right-wing government together with our natural partners," Netanyahu said in a statement.

The announcement was made after exit-polls indicating Netanyahu's Likud party lags slightly behind the Kahol Lavan (Blue and White) opposition bloc, but has better chances to enlist the support of the majority of lawmakers in the new Knesset.

Netanyahu, 69, is seeking fifth term to become Israel's longest-serving prime minister after more than a decade in power.
