Pakistan mourns loss of lives in Nepal plane crash

Islamabad, Mar 13 (IBNS): Pakistan has condoled the loss of lives in the Nepal plane crash incident which left 49 people dead.

A statement issued by the country's Foreign Ministry said: "The people and Government of Pakistan are deeply saddened at the tragic crash of passenger aircraft of Bangladesh, resulting in the loss of precious lives."

"We convey our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the departed souls and pray for the speedy recovery of the survivors," read the statement issued by the Ministry.

Traveling in a US-Bangla flight, families and relatives of  Bangladeshi flight crash victims reached Nepal on Tuesday.

Officials of the US-Bangla Airlines confirmed The Daily Star that the flight reached Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu around 10:35am (local time) one and half an hour after it departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka this morning.

The family members were taken to the hospitals to visit the Bangladeshi victims, the sources the Bangladeshi newspaper.

At least 49 people were killed when a Bangladeshi flight crashed in Kathmandu city of Nepal.

The plane arrived in Nepal from Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

Seventy-one people were traveling in it.

Meanwhile,  a high-level Bangladeshi team, which included Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism A.K.M. Shahjahan Kamal,  arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday, media reports said.

"The team will take stock of those deceased and injured in the plane crash. They will also discuss the possible reasons for the crash with Nepali authorities," reported Kathmandu Post.

Nepal PM KP Oli on Monday said a commission will be formed to investigate the cause of the crash.

Abid Sultan, the pilot of the US-Bangla Airlines plane that crashed in Nepal, passed away in a Kathmandu hospital, media reports said.

Plane's co-pilot Prithula Rashid and crew member Khwaja Hussain died earlier.
