Islamabad: At least seven people, including three women, died as the vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a drain in Pakistan's Islamabad city, media reports said.

The accident took place in Bhara Kahu, on outskirts of Islamabad, where a vehicle returning after attending a wedding party fell into a drain, reports The News International.

Police suspect the accident occured due to heavy rains which made the road slippery.

The injured kept lying unattended and unnoticed in the drain throughout the night. In the morning, the police were informed, but by then it was too late, and all the seven people, including women and children, had expired by then, The News International reported.

Police said the deceased included three women and three girls.

The deceased people were shifted to nearby hospital.

They were identified as Raja Hamza, Rabia Bibi, Tahira Bibi, Shamalia Bibi, Manahil, Ramsha and Nazia, the Pakistani newspaper reported.

An investigation into the matter has been initiated.
