Charsadda: Women from Pakistan's Charsadda city recently demonstrated against excessive gas prices and electricity load shedding.

The protesting women set used tyres on fire and blocked the Peshawar-Charsadda Road. Protests were also held in other areas, including Mirzagan, Bhoosakhel and Azizkhel, against prolonged power loadshedding and low gas pressure, reports Dawn News.

The baton-wielding women were chanting slogans against SNGPL and Pesco authorities. They were of the view that after prolonged and unscheduled power outages they were now facing gas loadshedding, reports the newspaper.

They said prices of essential items were on rise, while on the other, gas and electricity outages had paralysed their life.

They said the price of LPG was out of their reach, and also criticised the elected representatives for keeping ‘mum’ over the excessive gas and electricity loadshedding.

Later, the protest was ended by the women following requests by traffic officials.
