Satellite images show thousands of Afghans stranded at Pak border: Reports
New Delhi/IBNS: Amid reports of desperate Afghans trying to leave their country after Kabul takeover, satellite images exclusive to NDTV channel show thousands stranded at Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.
The images show the ground situation at the Chaman border in Spin Boldak between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It clearly indicates a desperate rush to leave the country.
"Apart from Spin Boldak, Afghanistan's key border crossings are Shir Khan on the border with Tajikistan, Islam Qala on the border with Iran and Torkham on the border with Pakistan," NDTV reported.
Traffic from Afghanistan has spiked over the past few weeks as families with bags, belongings and children, who have abandoned their homes in Kabul and other cities of the South Asian country, are waiting at makeshift camps for their turn to cross over.
On August 15, the Taliban entered Kabul, prompting the US-supported civilian government to collapse.
Ashraf Ghani resigned as president and fled the country to prevent what he described as imminent bloodshed if militants had to storm the city.
