Thailand: Series of bomb blasts hits Bangkok, no casualty
Bangkok, Aug 2 (IBNS): Several blasts rocked Thailand capital Bangkok on Friday and left at least two people hurt, media reports said.
Thailand Police have started investigating the cause of the blasts.
The Thai government confirmed that a number of small “bombing incidents” had taken place as the city hosts a major summit of Southeast Asian nations, and urged the public not to panic as police tighten security, reported he Telegraph of the UK.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has condemned the blasts.
"On the bombing this morning, I would like to condemn those causing the situation which destroys peace and damages the country’s image. I have instructed officials to take care of public safety and those affected promptly," the PM was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.
Police deputy spokesman Pol Colonel Kritsana Pattanacharoen was quoted as saying by The Nation that two people were injured in the Chong Nonsee blasts. One was sent to the Chulalongkorn Hospital, while the other was treated at the scene for slight injuries and let go.
Police found metal pellets at the site of the Chong Nonsee blasts, media reports said.
No casualty has been reported so far.
Two suspects were arrested on a bus in Chomphon that originated in Bangkok, reported The Nation.
