Police clashed with Tibetan and Uyghur demonstrators who were protesting outside the Chinese Embassy in Canberra against Chiese FM Wang Yi visit to Australia.

Federal police officers had to remove several protesters holding Tibetan and Uyghur flags and chanting anti-Chinese government slogans outside the embassy's compound, reported ABC News.

Protest organiser Tsewang Thupten told the crowd present at the venue that it was important to send a strong message to the visiting Chinese dignitary over human rights violations committed in the country.

"We will never be silent! We will never be silent. We will have courage. We will have courage. We will never stop! We will never stop!" protesters chanted as quoted by ABC News.

During her interaction with the Chinese Minister,  Foreign Minister Penny Wong said she raised Australia's concerns about human rights, including in Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong.

She told reporters: "I expressed our concern – our serious concern – about unsafe conduct at sea, our desire for peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait and in our region. I reflected the view of our region as outlined again and underscored again at the recent ASEAN summit about the importance of the South China Sea being governed by international law, particularly UNCLOS."

Speaking further on the meeting, she also posted on X: " I raised Australia's concerns about the new legislation in Hong Kong and its potential impact in Australia with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi yesterday. "
