The Vatican on Sunday shared a picture of Pope Francis for the first time since he was hospitalised last month.

He is reportedly suffering from pneumonia.

In the image, Pope Francis could be seen sitting at the chapel in Rome’s Gemelli hospital.

He is seen wearing a stole which the Pope wears during mass celebration.

"The Holy See Press Office releases a photo of Pope Francis in prayer after having concelebrated the Eucharist on Sunday morning. This is the first photo since his hospitalization on 14 February," read the Vatican News website.

According to the website, Pope Francis' medical condition remains stable and his respiratory therapy and physiotherapy continue.

The photo showed the Pope looking at the crucifix on the altar of the chapel on the tenth floor of the hospital.

He went to pray there every day since his medical condition has shown slight improvements.

He was admitted to the hospital on February 14.
