Australian PM Tony Abbott arrives at Pre New Delhi, Sep 05 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who is on a two-day visit in India received a ceremonial reception at the President’s House in Delhi on Friday. Present at the event to receive Abbott were Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung. Assam and Nagaland have been claiming tracts of land along the state limits since the creation of Nagaland more than four decades ago. The latest wave of violence has left at least 20 dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, officials said. Rare Rhino struggles for life after fall Jalpaiguri, Sep 05 (ANI): A rare one horned Rhino struggled for life after it fell in Teesta river canal near Kahatambari forest of Jalpaiguri division in West Bengal. The forest guards rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the Rhino with the help of two captive elephants hired from Gurumara National Park, but failed to save the pachyderm. The forest guards made an artificial route after breaking an embankment of the canal. Meanwhile, a member of an NGO said the forest guards were not using the right technique to carry out the rescue operation, which could be fatal for the one horned Rhino. The thick-skinned, one-horned Indian rhinoceros is one of the five rare surviving species in the world. 05-Sep-2014
UN should not allow Rajapaksa to address Coimbatore, Sep 05 (ANI): General Secretary of MDMK, Vaiko urged the United Nations to withdraw Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's invitation to deliver his address at the General Assembly. Referring to the alleged war crimes committed by Sri Lankan army during the civil war that ended in 2009, Vaiko said that Rajapaksa has committed the inferable crime of genocide of Tamil, and that he should be tried by the international court. Kolkata remembers Mother Teresa on her 1 Kolkata, Sep 05 (ANI): Special prayer session was organised by missionaries of charity, the global order of nuns founded by Mother Teresa in Kolkata city on Friday to observe her 17th death anniversary. Mother Teresa was a Nobel Peace Prize-winning nun who died in 1997, and was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003 at the Vatican. The ethnic Albanian Roman Catholic nun, who dedicated her life to poor, sick and dying in India, had made Kolkata city her home. The Superior General of Missionaries of Charity, Sister Prema said they remember her everyday and draw motivation to achieve what Mother Teresa had dreamed of. Heavy rains create havoc in Kashmir, res Udhampur, Sep 05 (ANI): Heavy rains inundated many villages in Jammu and Kashmir killing at least 65 people. Incessant rains for the past about 48 hours have resulted in mud slides, flash floods and rising of water in all rivers. The Indian Army has immediately moved in deploying rescue operations in floods affected regions of Naoshera, Rajouri, Thanamandi and Poonch district of the state. The Army has been able to rescue almost 108 civilians as search and rescue operations are in full swing. Authorities declared a disaster alert in the northern region after two days of heavy rain hit villages across the Kashmir valley, causing the worst flooding in two decades. 05-Sep-2014

Modi was speaking on Thursday while interacting with 350 national awardee teachers who will be felicitated by President Pranab Mukherjee on Teachers' Day. Teachers' Day is celebrated on September 05 every year, as it is the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a teacher and an academic philosopher. During the interaction, Modi said a teacher never retires and always continues to inspire the new generation. Modi also said that for a society to progress, teachers must always be two steps ahead of time. He said the teachers need to understand changes happening across the world, and prepare the new generation accordingly by arousing curiosity in them. Vijay Mallya says will pursue all legal Bangalore, Sep 04 (ANI): Business Tycoon Vijay Mallya on Thursday said that he will pursue all legal remedies available to him even as state-run United Bank of India's (UBI) declares him 'willful defaulter'. This could be a blow to the former liquor baron who has been fending off banks from recovering money they once lent to his now defunct Kingfisher Airlines. A two judge bench of the top court on Tuesday summarily waived off Kingfisher's objections that its chairman Mallya was declared a "willful defaulter" by the United Bank of India's Grievance Redressal Committee without his lawyer being heard during the proceedings. Mallya also slammed state's decision to ban beverage/ alcohol and said that there is no reason to exclude alcohol industry from Goods and Services Tax. The number of Haj pilgrims has increased in last few years and for safety of every pilgrim going to Saudi, the Saudi Kingdom had announced that without vaccination no pilgrim will be allowed to perform Haj. Executive Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Haj committee, Fayaz Ahmed Lone, said that every Haj pilgrim was expected to have a health and training card, which they have to show when they land in Saudi Arabia. He said that normally the vaccination costs a lot but during this drive it was being provided free of cost by the health department. In a 55-minute video posted online, Al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahri, also renewed a longstanding vow of loyalty to Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar, in an apparent snub to the Islamic State armed group challenging al Qaeda for leadership of transnational Islamist militancy. Artists create mirror image of historic Bhopal, Sep 04 (ANI): A team of 35 craftsmen developed a model of historic Taj Mahal, using 400 kilograms of silver, 10 kilograms of gold and diamonds in Madhya Pradesh. The artists attempted world record as they created mirror image of the 17th century's marble mausoleum in Bhopal. A businessman, Syed Hanif, who conceptualised the idea of the intricate model, said that he has visited Taj Mahal several times in last 30 years and was completely awed by its magnificence. Modak Modak Ingredients For Dough Rice flour - 1 cup A pinch of Salt Hot Water - 1 cup Ghee For Filling A little Water Jaggery - 1 cup Grated fresh Coconut - 1 cup A few Cardamom pods Method: 1. To make the dough, add salt to rice flour and knead a dough with hot water. 2. For the filling: take a little water in a pot, and add jaggery to it and let it melt. After it melts, strain the jaggery syrup to remove impurities. 3. Add the coconut to the strained jaggery syrup. Pound some fresh cardamom and add it. 4. Cook it till all the moisture evaporates and it reaches a thick consistency. Let is cool. 5. Take a little dough and make a round ball by rolling it. Grease your palm, either with ghee or oil. Flatten the dough, place some filling in the center and close it from all sides sealing it. It should look like a dumpling. 6. Make a bunch of these, place it in the steamer and steam the modak for about 10-15 minutes. Remove from steamer and serve.
