While addressing the public at the event, Modi said that for development of the farmers, there needs to be value addition. Nine dead in Assam floods, over 1200 mov Goalpara, Sep 24 (ANI): The flood situation in Assam has remained unchanged for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, with nine bodies being recovered so far from the Goalpara district. The army has been deployed for the rescue and relief operations in addition to squads from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Goalpara Deputy Commissioner said that over one thousand people have been rescued so far and just a few people are now left to be rescued in the district. Around 1,200 marooned people have been shifted to safer places in the Kamrup district, while the rescue operations are on in Kamrup and Morigaon districts. At least 415 villages in 12 districts are reeling under the fury of floods. The continuous downpour since Saturday has also flooded the main roads and various other parts of Guwahati, leading to the closure of schools and colleges. 24-Sep-2014

Landslide in Meghalaya kills eight Meghalaya, Sep 24 (ANI): Eight bodies were pulled out from debris after landslide, triggered by heavy rains, wreaked havoc in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. At least 22 people have died in flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rains in remote northeastern India, in the second flood tragedy to hit the subcontinent this month. Rescue workers said 17 people died in the mountainous state of Meghalaya and five in Guwahati, the biggest city in the region. Authorities have deployed hundreds of rescue workers to the area. Oats Upma Oats Upma Ingredients Oats - 1 cup Onion - 1 chopped Lemon - 1 Green chilli - 1 chopped Chopped Ginger - 1 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Salt to taste Water - 3 to 4 tsp For Tempering Oil - 4 tsp Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Urad dal - 1/2 tsp Broken chana dal - 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp A few Curry leaves Method: 1. Heat 3 to 4 tsp of oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds. Once they start crackling, add urad dal, channa dal, cumin seeds & curry leaves. 2. Once they start browning, add onions, green chilli and ginger. Once the onions turn transparent, add turmeric powder. 3. Then, mix the oats into it. Add salt as per taste and squeeze the juice of one lemon. Sprinkle a little water and cook it ensuring it doesn't burn. 4. Finally add chopped coriander leaves & mix it. BSE closes points 431.05 down on Septemb New Delhi, Sept 23 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 431.05 points down to stand at 26,775.69. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 128.75 points down to stand at 8,017.55. Chinese President tells Army to be ready New Delhi, Sept 23 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday reacted over Chinese President Xi Jinping's remark that People's Liberation Army (PLA) should be combat ready for a regional war. SC issues strict guidelines on police en New Delhi, Sep 23 (ANI): In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued strict guidelines on police encounters which mandates filing of FIR in all such cases. The SC said that if an encounter leads to a death then FIR must be filed and a magisterial probe under Sec 176 of Criminal Procedure Code carried out. The probe be handled by the state CID or a separate police station. The court has also directed that they will also have to surrender weapons and ammunition after the encounter. Further, unlike earlier when the encounter lead to awards, the court verdict also bars awarding of gallantry awards or promotion to policemen involved in encounters until the probe gets over. 23-Sep-2014
Four killed, 70 injured as cylinder burs Bulandshahr, Sep 23 (ANI): A gas cylinder on a moving bus exploded in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, leaving four dead, including a woman and three children and injuring more than 70. Soon after the cylinder exploded, the bus caught fire. The four dead were rushed to the government hospitals in New Delhi. District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani said that the critically injured are being referred to burnt unit of Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi. Fifty five passengers received serious burn injuries and are being treated in Delhi hospitals. The condition of 15 other passengers is said to be critical. Many passengers were sitting on the roof top of the bus when the incident took place. 23-Sep-2014
At least 12 people killed in road accide Mathura, Sep 23 (ANI): At least 12 people, including two women and a child, were killed early morning on Tuesday as a fast moving truck rammed into another stationary one on the Delhi-Mathura highway. The driver and cleaner of the offending truck, which was carrying coal, are said to be absconding.
