Coconut Poli Coconut Poli Ingredients For Dough All purpose flour - 1 cup A pinch of Salt Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Water - 1 cup Coconut oil - 1 tsp For Filling A little Water Jaggery - 1 cup Grated fresh Coconut - 1 cup A few Cardamom pods Ghee Method: 1. In a wide bowl add All purpose flour, salt, turmeric powder and water gradually while knead it. Once dough is ready, add coconut oil, gently rub into the dough, its gonna make it little more softer and smoother, just knead it little. Keep it aside for 15 to 20 minutes. 2. Grind the grated fresh coconut without adding water. 3. For the filling: take a little water in a pot, and add jaggery to it and let it melt. After it melts, strain the jaggery syrup to remove impurities. 4. Add the coconut to the strained jaggery syrup. Pound some fresh cardamom and add it. Cook it till all the moisture evaporates and it reaches a thick consistency. Let it cool. 5. Take a little dough Flatten it, place some coconut filling in the center and seal it all sides. Flatten a little bit. 6. Dust enough all purpose flour, flatten it the Coconut puran poli, roll it gently, you can roll it in to medium thickness. 7. US call for greenfield investments in In New Delhi, Sept 18 (ANI): In a bid to end the blockage of global trade, US top official called for green field investments in India through the 'Select USA' programme that will specifically concentrate on assisting new and expanding existing businesses. Speaking to reporters at CII Headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday Executive Director, Select USA, Vinai Thummalapally, invited competitive investors from India to USA. The director is on a seven-day visit to India and will be travelling across five cities – Delhi, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mumbai and Bangalore – to boost trade investment in the US. Counsellor for Commercial Affair John M McCaslin was also present at the "Select USA" press conference organised by the US Department of Commerce. Ajit Singh meets injured protesters in h New Delhi/ Ghaziabad, Sep 19 (ANI): RLD Chief Ajit Singh on Friday reached the hospital in Ghaziabad where his supporters who got injured during a protest yesterday are admitted. Singh visited to meet the injured supporters of the party. Earlier on Thursday, about 200 Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Bharatiya Kishan Union workers blocked traffic on National Highway-58 and tried to disrupt the water supply from Muradnagar to Sonia Vihar in Delhi. Singh said that it should be seen that the issue is pushed forward by the government. Meanwhile, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that any government building cannot be turned into memorial as per the Supreme Court's order. BJP flags off batch of doctors for Jammu New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): BJP on Friday flagged off a batch of doctors for rescue work in flood hit Jammu and Kashmir. BJP's Delhi unit President Satish Upadhyay said that the party is sending a batch of doctors along with vehicles full of medicines donated by various organizations in order to help speed up rescue work in flood hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Tibetans stage protest against Chinese P New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): Scores of Tibetans staged a protest Friday morning outside Hotel Taj Palace where Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife are staying. Protesters carrying placards that read "Freedom is my birth right", "Freedom of Tibet, Security of India" raised anti-China slogans. They shouted slogans like "We want freedom" as police tried to cordon them off from the area. Police gun down Maoist in fierce gun bat Malkangiri, Sep 19 (ANI): Police gunned down a Maoist, who had a bounty of rupees 400 thousand on his head, during a fierce battle in Malkangiri district of Odisha. The Maoist has been identified as Erra Madkami alias Sundhi Dalai. Acting on a tip-off, District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel launched a combing operation and also recovered arms and ammunition. Inspector General of Police, Yashwant Jethwa said that exchange of fire took place in the forest area near a village. The police recovered a sten gun, a 303 rifle, kitbag, posters, banners, Maoist literature, medicines, and other materials during search operation. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since 1960s. 19-Sep-2014
Bill Gates lauds India's Action plan to New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates praised India for the pioneering work in polio eradication and said the country's plan to achieve its target of reducing the newborn mortality rate to single digit before 2030 is possible. Bill Gates was accompanied by his wife Melinda Gates to attend the launch of health programme Indian Newborn Action Plan (INAP) in New Delhi, which was inaugurated by Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. In India the present death rate is 29 per 1,000 live births. Of the 2.8 million newborns who die at birth worldwide, India contributes 700,000. While speaking at the event, Bill said there are lessons to be learnt from India's fight against polio which may be applied against other diseases also. The World Health Organisation declared India free of the crippling polio virus in March, making the country's almost two-decade-long, multi-billion-dollar effort one of the biggest public health achievements in recent times. 19-Sep-2014

Hundreds of evacuees from flood ravaged Srinagar, Sep 19 (ANI): Hundreds of evacuees boarded Indian army vehicles to leave flooded region of Jammu and Kashmir. More than 75,000 people were still in partly submerged homes in Srinagar, where roads have been transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. The Indian army has deployed about 30,000 troops for rescue and relief operations and soldiers distributed 2,24,000 litres of water and food to survivors. A senior official of India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), PV Sandhu, said they would urge the government to provide transportation facilities to the flood victims. The authorities also dug a tunnel to dewater the parts of the city and let water flow back into the Jhelum River or out of the city. 19-Sep-2014

Awami Jubo League of Bangladesh protest Dhaka, Sep 19 (ANI): The youth wing of Bangladesh's ruling Awami League, the Awami Jubo League protested against Supreme Court's verdict to commute death sentence of a top Islamist leader Delwar Hossain Sayeedi to life imprisonment and also against the strike called by the opposition Jamaat-e-Islami in Dhaka. The court on Wednesday commuted Sayedee's death sentence to life imprisonment. The Islamic leader is convicted of war crimes during the country's war of liberation in 1971. The decision against Sayedee, a leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, prompted strike calls by his party, and provoked scattered violence in Dhaka, and the northern district of Rajshahi. Sayedee, had appealed against the decision by a war crimes tribunal over crimes of arson, looting, murder and rape, and the apex court on Wednesday ordered that he spend the rest of his life in prison. 19-Sep-2014
Kashmir's flood fury leaves migrants str Srinagar, Sep 19 (ANI): Scared due to life threat looming large, Gujarati migrants cried out for help as floods mayhem in Jammu and Kashmir leaves many stranded. Migrant workers and poor people say they are all still struggling for basic amenities like safe drinking water, food packets and blankets. More than 3,000 families from Gujarat are based in the valley. Most of the bread earners of these families work as menial labourers. The flood victims demanded Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to take initiative to send them back to their hometown as the floods and threats of Kashmir natives cause misery to them. Residents stranded for days by the floodwaters said that the army has selectively evacuated tourists and people according to a pre-set priority list, leaving locals to be rescued later by volunteers. Migrant workers and poor people say they are all still struggling for basic amenities like safe drinking water, food packets and blankets. A woman migrant, Geeta, living in a makeshift hut inside a camp set up by paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), said they had nowhere to go since their houses submerged in flood waters. The site was decked up with colourful lighting and fountains for the rare occasion and artistes performed traditional dance to entertain the dignitaries.
