BSE closes points 138.78 up on September New Delhi, Sept 17 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 138.78 points up to stand at 26,631.29. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 42.60 points up to stand at 7,975.50. NATIONALUM and ABB were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.35% and 6.18% along with PIPAVAV DEFENCE AND OFFSHORE ENG LTD. and BAJAJ FINSERV LTD. with an increase of 4.14% and 4.13% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include RCOM and SHRIRAM CITY UNION FINANCE LTD. with a decrease of 4.02% and 4.00% along with IRB and INDHOTEL with a decrease of 3.71% and 3.44% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 178.74 points at 17,746.87 while the banking sector is down 7.73 points at 18,130.57 and the reality sector is up 8.62 points at 1,709.21. Bypoll Results: BJP to introspect and pr New Delhi, Sept 17 (ANI): After achieving less than the desired results in bypolls held across 9 states, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra said on Wednesday that the party will introspect on the results and will address the problems at the ground level. Salman Khurshid's NGO could face CBI pro New Delhi, Sep 17 (ANI): Social Justice and Empowerment Minister said on Wednesday that his department had received complaints against some NGO's on which investigations were carried out and two NGO's were taken into consideration, of which one is being handled by former Union Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife. He further said that during the investigation many documents of the NGO were found fake. Xi Jinping will arrive in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon on a three day state visit. He will be received by Gujarat Governor OP Kohli, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and her cabinet colleagues at Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport at around 2 p.m. President Jinping, his wife and his entourage will be given a traditional welcome along with a guard of honour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome him in Vastrapur, after which, both leaders will hold talks. It is expected that both sides will sign three memoranda of understanding (MoUs). Of them, two are for relations between Guangdong and Gujarat and Guangzhou and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The third MoU is related to cooperation in the industrial sector. 17-Sep-2014
BJP presses Mamata to ensure safety of w New Delhi, Sep 17 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Wednesday exhorted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure women's safety in the state. Jadavpur University students have sought the resignation of the Vice Chancellor after 35 students were arrested by the police while protesting outside the university campus to demand a fresh probe in the molestation case that took place on August 28. Last month during a festival organized by the college as many as ten male students had allegedly dragged a female student of the University into the boys' hostel and molested her. The alleged victim informed the college authorities and filed a police complaint, following which the officials have begun the investigations. 17-Sep-2014
Woman molestation case: 35 Jadavpur Univ Kolkata, Sep 17 (ANI): About 35 students who were protesting outside the Jadavpur university campus against the molestation of a woman student were arrested by the police on Wednesday. The students were gheraoing the vice chancellor and registrar demanding a fresh probe into the case where a woman student was allegedly dragged into a men's hostel and sexually molested. The students' union demanded a fresh probe panel and insisted that the gherao would not be lifted until some assurance was given in the matter. It is being widely reported that the students were lathicharged by the police and dragged. Moreover, women students who were part of the protest have also filed a molestation complaint against the police. 17-Sep-2014

PM Modi seeks mother's blessings on his Gandhinagar, Sep 17 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought his mother's blessings on his 64th birthday, his first after assuming office amid greetings pouring in from across the nation on Wednesday. On the occasion of his birthday, Modi began his day by visiting his home state Gujarat. Donning saffron kurta, Modi arrived home, 23 km from Ahmedabad, alone in a normal vehicle without any security to meet his mother Heeraben on his first birthday after assuming office as Prime Minister. Poor remain worst affected in flood-hit Srinagar, Sept 17 (ANI): The worst flooding in Jammu and Kashmir in over a century has left poor and migrant workers the worst hit as they are stranded with no shelter or food. More than 75,000 people were still in partly submerged homes in Srinagar, Kashmir's capital city of more than a million people, where roads have been transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. Many complain that the government, which has maintained a heavy presence in the territory to keep a lid on the revolt, has left them to their fate. Residents stranded for days by the floodwaters said that the army has selectively evacuated tourists and people according to a pre-set priority list, leaving locals to be rescued later by volunteers. Migrant workers and poor people say they are all still struggling for basic amenities like safe drinking water, food packets and blankets. Meanwhile, a migrant worker from northwestern province of Rajasthan who makes brooms to earn a living, Jitesh, said the floods have literally left them with nothing. 17-Sep-2014
Truckers union clash in Kashmir kills on Kathua, Sept 17 (ANI): One person was killed and three others injured when members of truckers union resorted to firing following a clash between them in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly, the clash, between two groups of the union, took place during the election of the union president. The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Kumar, a government employee working for excise and taxation department. He was killed after a bullet hit his head. The injured were referred to Jammu hospital. Indian boxers' preparations in full swin Patiala, Sep 17 (ANI): Eyeing a rich haul of medals, including several golds, the Indian boxers have been sweating and toiling at the last training camp before leaving for the Asian Games in South Korea's Incheon. The boxers, who returned from recently-ended Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a less-than-expected five medals, are training to perfect the knock-out punch for the September 19-October 4 event.
