PM Modi meets French Prez Hollande; defe Paris, April 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met French President François Hollande in portrait room of Elysee Palace in Paris. According to the reports, the two leaders who met over tea discussed critical defence and nuclear issues as well as terrorism. Later on Modi is scheduled to take part in delegation level talks at Ambassador Room. Modi is expected to arrive at Port De La Bourdonnais at 10 pm for the boat ride on Le Seine with President Hollande. BJP hits out at Congress over Nehru snoo New Delhi, April 10 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday assailed Congress after declassified intelligence agency files revealed that first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's government spied on family of iconic freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose for 20 years. Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the history of Congress was full of "misdeeds". Congress leader PC Chacko said it is hard to believe Nehru spied on Bose's family because both were colleagues and shared excellent rapport. Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh sought a probe into the entire saga. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal dismissed the allegations. The Intelligence Bureau (IB) files reveal unprecedented surveillance on the Bose's family between 1948 and 1968 and it was reported directly to Nehru. India 'disappointed' with Pakistan as La Lucknow/New Delhi, April 10 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that Pakistan has "disappointed" India as the mastermind of Mumbai serial attacks, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, walked out of Lahore prison. Singh said India was willing to work on its strained ties with Pakistan, but called Lakhvi's release "unfortunate". Meanwhile, Congress leader RPN Singh said that the Narendra Modi government should ensure justice is meted out to victims of the 26/11 attacks. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that Lakhvi's release was the result of Pakistan's sloppy attitude in dealing with militancy. SC extends stay of Italian marine on hea New Delhi, April 09 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday extended stay of Italian marine Massimiliano Latorre, accused of killing fishermen on the high sea, for three more months on health grounds. Marines Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, part of a military team protecting a privately owned cargo ship, maintain they mistook fishermen for pirates and fired warning shots into the water in 2012. Supreme Court had allowed Latorre to temporarily return to Italy for heart surgery, but Girone remains in India awaiting trial. Pak court orders immediate release of 26 New Delhi, April 9 (ANI): Politicos on Thursday slammed Pakistan, after a court in the country ordered the release of Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The court suspended the Punjab government's detention order against Lakhvi under a public security act and ordered his immediate release. The court also stated the detention as 'illegal'. Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq ordered Lakhvi to submit two surety bonds worth Rs 1 million each for his release. In March, the Punjab government had detained Lakhvi before he could be released from prison after a court ordered his release. Lakhvi and six others - Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum - have been charged by India with planning and executing the Mumbai attack in November, 2008 that left 166 people dead. 09-Apr-2015
Satyam case: B Ramalinga Raju sentenced Hyderabad, April 09 (ANI): A special court in Hyderabad on Thursday sentenced Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju to seven years imprisonment, also fining him a penalty of Rs five crores in multi-crore accounting fraud case. Earlier in the day, the court had pronounced Raju, along with nine others, guilty. A Hyderabad court had sent Raju and his brother Rama Raju to six months in jail, and had also imposed a fine of Rs.5 lakh on each of them in connection with the massive corporate fraud case in November last year. The Supreme Court had later granted bail to the two accused. The charges against Raju, who was arrested in January 2009 for one of India's biggest corporate scams worth more than Rs.7000 crores, include criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, cheating and forgery. 09-Apr-2015
