Devotees across India celebrate ‘Hanum Varanasi/ Hyderabad, April 04 (ANI): Devotees across India took part in festivities to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman on Saturday. The festival, known as ‘Hanuman Jayanti’ is marked by recitation of hymns from ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ in praise of Hanuman and offering flowers and sweets at temples. In Varanasi, thousands of devotees took out a procession to celebrate the day. On this day, Bhandaras (community kitchens) are also organized. The festival is celebrated every year on the occasion of “Chaitra Poornima”, observed on the full moon day in the month of Chaitra that usually falls in the months of late March or early April. A similar procession was organized in Hyderabad also, where hundreds of thousands of devotees took part. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. "Greetings on Hanuman Jayanti", the Prime Minister said on Twitter. 04-Apr-2015
India to increase production of indigeno Kanpur, April 04 (ANI): India plans to increase production of indigenously developed ‘Pinaka’ multiple barrel rocket to meet its defence needs, said an official on Saturday (April 04). Pinaka, which is fired from multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL), has a range of 40 kilometres. The system is mounted on a Tatra truck for mobility. A battery of Pinaka consists of six launcher systems, six loader-cum-replenishment vehicles, three replenishment vehicles, a command post vehicle with fire control computer and meteorological radar. In 2014, about 5,000 rockets were produced while an advanced variant is being developed with enhanced range and accuracy. The rocket was first used in the 1999 Kargil war against Pakistan. Indian scientists began work on Pinaka in 1983. The system has a maximum range of 39-40 km and fires a salvo of 12 HE rockets in under 40 seconds, with a beaten zone of 3.9 square kilometres. 04-Apr-2015
Farmers block roads as hailstorm destroy Mathura/ Jind, April 04 (ANI): Dozens of agitated farmers blocked roads on Saturday (April 04) and demanded compensation as hailstorm hit Mathura city and damaged their crops. Blocked roads caused trouble to the travelling passengers as traffic was halted. On Friday night, Mathura received unseasonal heavy hailstorm followed by rains which added woes to the farmers’ lives. Farmers holding damaged crops shouted slogans and blocked roads due to which the traffic came to a standstill. Unseasonal storms have badly damaged the winter crop in large parts of the fertile northern plains, most likely contributing to the suicides, and villagers have blamed Modi for not stepping in to help the distressed farmers or ensuring that crop prices remained stable. Farmers in Jind district of Haryana also protested against unfair compensation given to them for the damage of their crops. 04-Apr-2015

Monkey menace in Varanasi disrupts Wi-Fi Varanasi, April 04 (ANI): Nestled on the banks of the river Ganges, temple town of Varanasi is battling a monkey crisis. The city, also Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency, gets a large number of tourists, both domestic and foreign, everyday due to its religious significance. But the holy town is grappling with frequent breakdown of internet services caused by monkeys who often bite wires. The monkeys in Varanasi are seen as an avatar of Hindu monkey god Hanuman and are considered sacred. Authorities are baffled as they can't take action against the monkeys. A senior engineer with Telecommunication Department, AP Srivastav said they have mooted a plan to lay optical cable wire underground to deal with the situation. 04-Apr-2015

Anbumani Ramadoss urges PM Modi to incre Chennai, April 03 (ANI): Former Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to increase the size of pictorial warning on tobacco products from 40 per cent to 85 percent after health ministry deferred it. The ministry put in abeyance its order that had sought to increase the warning size on the main display area of the packets of tobacco products from April 01, citing an interim report from a parliament panel that sought more time to hear all stakeholders before implementation. Ramadoss hit out at the health ministry and said that pictorial warning was a prerequisite to create awareness against tobacco consumption among poor and illiterate people. Ramadoss also voiced his concern over the presence of tobacco baron Shyam Saran Gupta in the panel and demanded his sacking as it was a clear case of a conflict of interest. Panel head Dilip Gandhi also attracted controversy by his remark that there was no Indian study to confirm that use of tobacco products leads to cancer. 03-Apr-2015

Backing Modi's model of governance over allegations of it being PMO driven, Shah asserted that Modi government has arrived and will be in power for the next 10-20 years. China aid to Nepal for their interest, n Dharamsala, March 03 (ANI): Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh slammed Chinese government for providing monetary aid to Nepal for transport and infrastructure and its promise to keep up the crackdown on "anti-China" activities by Tibetans. Reportedly, last month Chinese President Xi Jinping announced package of 900 million RMB (USD 145.18 million) during his meeting with President of Nepal, Ram Baran Yadav, on the sidelines of Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan Province in China. Religion and Culture Minister of Tibetan government in-exile, Pema Chhinjor said the economic aid is for China's own vested interest as Tibetans are not involved in any "anti-China" activities. Two-way ties between Nepal and China have strengthened in recent years, with China becoming a major donor of aid to, and trading partner of, its tiny neighbour, besides bringing major investments in infrastructure development, such as hospitals. Four suspects arrested in Delhi's 25-cro New Delhi, April 3 (ANI): Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested four suspects in a major robbery case and recovered the goods worth Rs 25 crore along with the container and vehicle used in robbery. A gang of robbers had fled away with goods worth around Rs 25 crore along with a truck from Delhi's Kalindi Kunj. The incident took place at around 1 am on April 1. The truck loaded with electronic goods of Samsung was stopped by the robbers who broke open the container and then decamped with it. The truck driver and the cleaner were brutally beaten up by the robbers and they also took away the truck. The truck was moving from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi towards Noida in Uttar Pradesh. An FIR was registered and a number of police teams of South East District were formed to nab the robbers. 03-Apr-2015

Villagers in Latehar suffer since Maoist Latehar, April 02 (ANI): People of a remote village in Jharkhand continue to suffer due to lack of primary medical facilities since Maoist rebels blew up a health centre in the area about two years ago. The government efforts to rebuild the centre have met with little success in the wake of threats from the rebels. Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Latehar, SK Agrahari, said that people of Serengdag village were facing hardships as the nearest health centre is at Herhanj at a distance of 60 kilometres. The officials said the administration was planning to appoint a doctor in Daltonganj to look after the villagers. The health sub-centre was built in 2012 to provide better health care to the villagers. But the centre was blown up by rebels a year later. Villagers say the rebels targeted the centre as police force used to camp there. 02-Apr-2015

He added that the space used for warning was later increased from 40% to 85 %. Resigned from AAP as party failed its ow Chennai, April 02 (ANI): After the only woman member of AAP's 18-member national executive Christiana Samy resigned, she said that she left the party as AAP failed its own constitution. Samy accused the party of betraying its founding principles and ignoring the volunteer's voice. She said that these are the basic reasons why she quit from the party. Samy had interestingly voted in favour of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan in the March 4 national executive meeting. Further, she also said that Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal is a great leader but somewhere he lacked patience.
