Women activists express grief over Hapur Bengaluru/ Jaipur, Dec 31 (ANI): Women Activist, Pramila Nesargi on Thursday said that a rape case takes place because the government of that state is not taking the matter seriously. She also expressed her grief by saying that a lady was raped but still no complaint was lodged, and even no police action was taken. She also said that the Panchayat members are responsible for this and should be put behind the bars. Another women activist, Kavita Srivastava said that raping a girl is a heinous crime but still no actions are taken. She also said that it was not a small family issue, which can be sorted by petty punishments and so FIR should be lodged in this case and also charge sheet should be filed, so that the victim can get justice. 31-Dec-2015

Echoing similar sentiments, Congress leader Manish Tiwari said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi Government was nothing but a bunch of 'arm chaired fascists' in regard to the suspensions. Odd-Even Formula: Delhi Govt. conducts c New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): The Delhi Government on Thursday conducted a two-hour coordination trial run ahead of the implementation of 'Odd-Even' Formula from January 1. Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai had yesterday asserted that the 'dry run', conducted between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., was only to create awareness of the 'Odd-Even' Formula, adding that no vehicle would be challaned and there would be no effect on the public. The scheme, which will be implemented for 15 days, has been proposed to curb pollution in the national capital by restricting movement of private vehicles based on their registration numbers. 31-Dec-2015

Protest raised by bureaucrats 'justified New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): Congress leader Tom Vadakkan on Thursday said that the statement given by Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain on mass leave of government officials was regrettable. He was of the view that democracy could not run without bureaucracy and said that the people suspended were just doing their duty. He also sided with the persons suspended, saying the protest raised by the bureaucrats was totally justified. This comes in the lieu of two senior officials being suspended by the Delhi Government for refusing to sign some files. To show solidarity with the suspended officials, 200 bureaucrats threatened to go on mass leave, which might affect the government's plans for the odd-even car scheme, that is to be launched from January 1. 31-Dec-2015
13-year old to be felicitated with Natio Chandigarh, Dec 31 (ANI): A 13-year old boy Dishant Mendiratta from Chandigarh, who saved his mother from a robber, has been selected for National Bravery Award 2015 by the Indian Council for Child Welfare. The incident took place when Dishant was at his home with his mother and an unidentified man came to meet his father. The man threatened to kill the children, and asked them to get all the cash and valuables in the house. Taking advantage of a momentarily lapse on the part of the accused, Dishant overpowered the assailant. Both Dishant and his mother suffered minor injuries, but were able to raise alarm, and get the robber arrested. 31-Dec-2015
Suresh Prabhu launches environmental ini New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu launched two environmental initiatives - a 26 megawatt wind mill plant and Head On Generation (HOG) system in Mumbai Rajdhani Express - to promote clean energy. The wind mill plant will be located in Jaisalmer. The plant will reduce the energy cost, and also promote the use of clean energy. The plant will generate over 50 million units of electricity per annum. The plants electricity will be utilised for powering three traction substations - Bharatpur, Hindaun and Ramganj Mandi in Bharatpur-Kota Section of Delhi-Mumbai trunk route. India has earmarked 50 billion rupees to pay for the installation of rooftop solar panels over the next five years that will generate up to 4,200 megawatts of power. The government has set a target of generating 100,000 MW of electricity from solar panels by 2022 to overcome an acute power shortage. 31-Dec-2015
Hyderabad Police arrests 10 for cheating Hyderabad, Dec 31 (ANI): Hyderabad Police nabbed 10 people from Delhi and Lucknow for cheating people on the pretext of getting huge amounts on the existing and lapsed insurance policies. A group of seven from Delhi and three from Lucknow, involved in the fraud were arrested by a team of cyber crime police of Hyderabad. The police were acting on a complaint filed by a retired police sub-inspector in Hyderabad, Mohammad Liyaqat Ali Khan. After carrying out an investigation and nabbing the culprits, police also seized Rs. 7, 30,000 and a number of laptops, mobile phones and other gadgets. The alleged culprits from Delhi have been identified as M. Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Uday Mahajan, Sardhul Siddhu, Rajeev Singh, Rajeev Verma, Dilbar Kaintura and Saroj Kumar. While three people arrested from Lucknow are Alok Shukla, Ramesh Yadav and Iftheqaruddin. 31-Dec-2015

Mumbai's lunchbox delivery men to feed p Mumbai, Dec 31 (ANI): Hundreds of lunchbox delivery men or dabbawalas in Mumbai started a new initiative called 'Roti (bread) Bank' to help distribute leftover food from mass gatherings like weddings to the poor. Under the initiative, the lunchbox delivery men have tied up with caterers and wedding planners to serve the city's needy. He added that any individual or event organiser could contact the lunchbox delivery men on the helpline number. Dabbawalas in Mumbai have for decades collected hot lunches from customers' often distant homes and, using a complex delivery system and overladen bicycles, carried them to offices and schools across the city. Babusaheb, a lunchbox delivery man, said that he would collect food and distribute it among pavement dwellers, slum residents and anyone living below the breadline.
