New Delhi: Regulators and more companies are taking action against Facebook. The Federal Trade Commission says it opened a non-public investigation in the social network's privacy practices. In Germany, the Justice Minister met with Facebook executives and the Cartel Office is probing the use of data Facebook culls from partner websites. The news sent Facebook's beleaguered shares down more than 5 percent on March 26.

Arizona suspends Uber self-driving cars

New Delhi: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey on Monday suspended the self-driving cars of Uber after a fatal crash last week killed a pedestrian. Ducey sent a letter to the Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi saying that he was suspending the ride-sharing company's tests of self-driving cars on Arizona roads. "Improving public safety has always been the emphasis of Arizona's approach to autonomous vehicle testing, and my expectation is that public safety is also the top priority for all who operate this technology in the state of Arizona," Ducey said in his letter to Khosrowshahi. "The incident that took place on March 18 is an unquestionable failure to comply with this expectation," the letter added. The Arizona governor has directed the country's transportation department to suspend Uber's ability to test and operate autonomous vehicles. Meanwhile, Uber said that it had suspended testing of its self-driving cars in the cities of Tempe, Pittsburgh, San Francisco in the US and Toronto in Canada.

Mark Zuckerberg brings apology ads

New Delhi: Facebook and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has issued a full-page advertisement apologising for the data breach. The social media magnate has made statements dismissing allegations of having collected user's text and call data without their consent. The advertisement has been released in seven newspapers across the United Kingdom and three newspapers across the United States including New York Times, Washington Post and the WSJ. Zuckerberg also reiterated that the network has already limited any third-party's access from getting information. Facebook and Cambridge Analytica scandal that came to light last week triggered investigations in Europe and the US.

Uber to sell Southeast Asian business to

New Delhi: Amid fierce competition, ride-hailing app Uber is reportedly selling its Southeast Asian share of the business to Grab, its Singapore-based competitor. The deal, which was signed for an undisclosed amount, will leave Uber with a 27.5 percent stake in Grab under the agreement. The deal also includes the sale of all of Uber's operations in the region, including its food delivery service, Uber Eats, thus helping Grab venture into the food delivery space. The move follows a massive investment that was made in Uber earlier this year by Japan's SoftBank Group, who has also invested a significant share in Grab, China's Didi Chuxing and India's Ola. In 2016, Uber had sold its China operations to Didi Chuxing in a landmark deal that was perceived to be the end of Uber's vision to dominate one of the world's largest markets.

White House defends Trump's silence over

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Tuesday defended United States President Donald Trump's silence on allegations leveled against him by porn star Stormy Daniels. Sanders, while throwing light on Daniels branding Trump as a "counter-puncher", clarified that she didn't say he "punches back on every single topic". Reportedly, the President has been advised that "lashing out" on the Daniels story will only make it worse. Opposition's impeachment process against

New Delhi/Mumbai, Mar 28 (ANI):  The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday supported Opposition's proposal to move an impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. "The Samajwadi Party stands with the impeachment motion, which is about bringing independence and unquestionable integrity to the judiciary," SP leader Ghanshyam Tiwari told ANI. Residents rescued from a ruined building

Bhiwandi (Maharashtra), Mar 28 (ANI): At a building in Bhiwandi, cracks were noticed in some parts in the pillars and the residents were told to evacuate. The people have come out safely, no deaths or injuries have been reported. “Every year one or two buildings fall drastically. Even before this, two buildings had collapsed in this area, in which many people lost their lives,” said Rupesh Mhatre, Shiv Sena MLA.

Girl caught cheating in exam commits sui

Mumbai (Maharashtra), Mar 28 (ANI): A 12-year-old female student committed suicide when she was caught duping during exam. The Mumbai Police is investigating the matter.When the student started taking the exam, the class teacher saw writing pad under her copy, and informed her parents. After returning from school the girl went to her room, while her mother started teaching other kids. When the 12-year-old did not come out of her room for a long time, the mother entered the room and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. She was taken to the hospital where the doctors pronounced her death.

Russia shopping mall fire: People mourn

Kemerovo (Russia), Mar 28 (ANI): A number of people gathered in Russia’s Kemerovo to mourn the death of victims who lost their lives in massive fire that claimed lives of 64 people, including children. Relatives expressed their grief and anger, blaming corruption and lax fire safety rules as the underlying causes of the fire. A man, whose daughter died in the dreadful incident, described the final words he shared with his daughter on the phone while she was trapped in the building. “I told her: 'Lie down on the floor and breathe. Breathe and don't die',” he said. The major fire in Winter Cherry shopping mall originated from a playroom on the third floor of the building.  Russian President Vladimir Putin flew to the scene later and assured angry residents that those responsible for what he called criminal negligence, would be harshly punished.

3 arrested with 110 kilograms cannabis

Rachakonda (Telangana), Mar 28 (ANI): Telangana Police apprehended three people in connection with cannabis trafficking. Police seized 110 kilograms of cannabis, a car and three mobile phones from the accused. The accused were smuggling the cannabis to Hyderabad for selling it to the agents. All the seized items are worth around Rs 17 Lakhs.

Cambridge Analytica whistleblower raises

London (United Kingdom), Mar 28 (ANI): Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Christopher Wylie said that he felt “cheating” by Vote Leave campaigners may have swayed the result of Britain’s 2016 Brexit referendum. Wylie made the comment while he faced questions from the British Parliament's Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee who are investigating how Facebook user data got into the hands of the political consultants Cambridge Analytica. Vote Leave officials denied breaking election rules and said they were facing an attempt to undermine Brexit by smearing their reputations.

Decommissioning ceremony of Indian Coast

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Mar 28 (ANI): The Indian Coast Guard on Tuesday (March 27) decommissioned its ship, Bhikhaiji Cama after its 20-year-long tenure. Navy band performed during the decommissioning ceremony held in Chennai. The surveillance ship played a pivotal role in apprehending around 10 foreign fishing vessels and evacuated several personnel during a Tsunami relief operation.  Equipments of the ship will now be stored for utilization in other vessels and remaining parts will be auctioned online through the MSTC, e-auction website.   With a parade of the guard of honour and the haul down of the Ensign for the last time, the Coast Guard bid good-bye to the vessel.

Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 28 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday attended a public meeting of the Budaga Jangam community in Amaravati. While addressing the gathering, the Andhra Chief Minister praised the community, saying that they have entertained the masses from decades. “In modern times, you lost your profession to dramas, cinemas and TVs,” CM Naidu said.  He also reminded that BR Ambedkar listed their caste as 9th in the 59 SC communities which was later brought to GO No 144, pulling them out of Scheduled Caste by the Congress Government.  “All the poor must be given justice. We are working towards a society with no economic parities. We are implementing welfare and development schemes so that every household gets a minimum 10,000/- income per month,” he asserted.

Here’s the scrumptious cake of Akash-S

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): Following the engagement of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta (daughter of diamond merchant Russell Mehta) in Goa, the Ambanis hosted a bash in Mumbai.  Other than the gorgeous couple, the other highlight of night was the multi-tiered cake which arrived from Mumbai's Deliciae Patisserie.  On her Instagram account, Nita Ambani reposted pictures of the cake designed by patisserie chef, Bunty Mahajan. Sharing her emotions, the patisserie chef wrote on Instagram: "Put my heart and soul into this one, to make it as perfect as possible!"  The scrumptious-looking cake was placed on a floral cake stand and was adorned with flowers in pink and white. It also had the initials of Akash and Shloka embellished on it.  Known to be great hosts, the Ambanis had an impressive line-up of A-listers like Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aaradhya, Katrina Kaif, Karan Johar, Zaheer Khan, Sagarika Ghatge and Harbhajan Singh.  Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta are looking forward to a big fat wedding in December.

Baloch people hold anti-Pakistan protest

Berlin (Germany), Mar 28 (ANI): To highlight Pakistan-led continuous atrocities in Balochistan and its illegal occupation of the region on March 27, 1948, the Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) took out a protest rally and awareness meeting in Germany’s Berlin. Furious over the atrocities, the protestors carried placards reading slogans ‘27 March-Black Day’ and ‘Balochistan is not Pakistan’ and raised slogans like ‘Baloch Wants Freedom’ and  ‘Stop Human Rights Violations in Balochistan’.  The FBM is also organising protest rallies and seminars in cities across Europe, United States and the United Kingdom.  Main aim of these demonstrations is to highlight the atrocities by Pakistan and free Balochistan from it.
