Mysore (Karnataka), Mar 25 (ANI): Seven rebel Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs joined Congress party in a public rally of Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Mysuru on Sunday. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was also present. Legislators BZ Zaheer Ahmed Khan, R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, N Chaluvaraya Swamy, Iqbal Ansari, HC Balakrishna, Ramesh Bandi Siddegowda and Bheema Naik have resigned from the party. The seven legislators had also tendered their resignations to Assembly Speaker K.B. Koliwad.

10 died after an auto carrying 14 passen

Nizamabad (Telangana), Mar 25 (ANI): At least ten persons died after an auto carrying 14 passengers fell into a huge pit in Nizamabad's Mendora on Sunday. The deceased include four women and six children. The bodies were fished out of the well. Police investigation is underway.

Christians celebrate Palm Sunday across

Chennai/Thiruvananthapuram/Kochi, Mar 25 (ANI): Christians across south Indian cities celebrated Palm Sunday on Sunday commemorating Jesus Christ's entry into the city of Jerusalem before getting arrested and crucified. A large number of devotees participated in the procession holding palm fronds blessed by the priest before thronging the nearby churches and sang prayers. There is a tradition of singing 'Hosana' which literally meaning 'O Lord! Save us!' Christians believe Jesus rode into Jerusalem to the cheers of the crowd the week before Easter, when he rose from the dead, according to the legend. The poor wanted to follow him but in Palestine they had nothing but Palm leaves, which later became a symbol of following Jesus.

Mumbai (Maharashtra), Mar 25 (ANI): Mukesh Ambani with wife Nita Ambani and other family members visited Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai on the occasion of Ram Navami. Akash Ambani, the eldest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and his fiancé Shloka Mehta also accompanied the family. Shloka Mehta is the daughter of prominent diamantaire Russell Mehta. Akash and Shloka were engaged at a ceremony in Goa on March 24.

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Sunday said his son Arijit Shashwat does not have to surrender as he is innocent. Further he said, his son is not hiding anywhere and was not involved in the communal clashes. "Mere bete ne koi ganda kaam nahi kiya. FIR to jhut ka pulinda hai, uspe kyo surrender karega? Arijit(son) kahin chupa hua nahi hai. Wo aaj apna gaon bhi gaya aur bhagwan Ram ka aarti bhi utara," he said. An arrest warrant has been issued against Choubey's son Arjit Shaswat for communal clashes in Bihar. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Arijit Shashwat and others on March 19, in connection with a communal clash that broke out in Bihar's Bhagalpur.

ED registers PMLA case against Nirav Mod

New Delhi,: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday registered a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case against Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and others in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case. During the course of investigation, a total of 251 searches were conducted all over India. It led to the seizure of diamond, gold, pearls, and precious and semi precious stones. Further, attachments of immovable properties belonging to Nirav Modi Group and Mehul Choksi Group have been provisionally attached. The total value of seizures and attachment is approximately Rs. 7638 crores. A joint search with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was also conducted on March 22, at the residential premises of Nirav Modi at Samudra Mahal, Mumbai. The search continued for three days and resulted in seizure of antique jewelry valued at Rs. 15 crores, high end watches valued at Rs 1.40 crores, and paintings worth approximately Rs. 10 crores. The paintings include M. F. Husain, Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar, Amrita Sher-Gil, among others. One ring is valued at Rs. 10 crores approximately.

Shares of Union Bank of India slump to 1

New Delhi: Union Bank of India's shares tumbled down to 11-year low a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against Totem Infrastructure following a complaint by the bank. Hyderabad-based Totem Infrastructure allegedly duped Rs 1,394.43 Crores from a consortium of eight banks including UBI. The federal investigation agency has also filed charges against the company's promoters and directors. The bank has accused the company of defrauding it for close to Rs 313 Crores. The bank's shares fell sharply after the news broke out. The stock closed at 86.75, down 8.39 percent on the National Stock Exchange on Friday. CBI has issued a look-out circular against the defaulters to prevent them from fleeing the country.

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum that could impose tariffs on up to $60 billion of imports from China. The restrictions will target 1,300 Chinese products, everything from shoes and clothing to electronics. China has already said it will defend itself with "all necessary measures", raising fears of a trade war between the world's two biggest economies. Trump also asked the Treasury Department to impose restrictions on Chinese investment in American companies.

Vodafone, Idea Cellular announce leaders

New Delhi: The Vodafone Group and Aditya Birla Group have announced the proposed new leadership team of the merger between Vodafone India and Idea Cellular. The team will come into effect after the merger is completed. This is in line with the original merger announcement of March 20, 2017, which said that the management team of the combined business would be confirmed prior to closing.
