Dutch trade delegation is interested in helping to set up port facilities in West Bengal
Kolkata, June 15 (IBNS): Kolkata-based the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industries (Bengal Chamber) recently organised an interactive session between its members and a Dutch delegation in the presence of Marten Van Den Berg, Ambassador of Netherlands in India.
The interactions revolved around opportunities in areas such as shipping, port, barge manufacturing and operations.
The Dutch companies were also keen to look at river management and port infrastructure projects in the east.
Ambassador Marten Van Den Berg said that with West Bengal serving as the gateway to the north-eastern part of India, there is plenty of opportunities for the state to develop business ventures with his country.
He said that they were exploring opportunities to develop logistics hub function.
Tapas Banerjee, co chairperson of the Bengal Chamber's shipping committee, said that opportunities in areas of waterways infrastructure and associated sectors exist in West Bengal.
According to media reports, the Dutch companies showed interest in developing port facilities in Tajpur and Kulti, in West Bengal.
