Gurugram, Jul 1 (UNI) Private airline SpiceJet on Monday launched daily non-stop flight services on the Guwahati-Dhaka route under the International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACS) of the government.
This is the first-ever flight to be operated under IACS.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the flight. Assam Minister of Transport, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Education, Law & Justice, GDD Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Additional Chief Secretary Industries & Commerce Ravi Capoor and Ministry of Civil Aviation Joint Secretary Usha Padhee also present on the occasion.
The launch was initiated with the customary lamp lighting ceremony thereby marking the formal announcement of SpiceJet’s SG 78 Guwahati to Dhaka flight. In line with the aviation tradition to mark key milestones, the inaugural flight from Dhaka, was greeted with a grand water cannon salute at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
With the launch of the new flight services between Guwahati and Dhaka, SpiceJet now operates two flights under IACS.
SpiceJet is deploying its Bombardier Q400 on the sector.
