Sensex gains 173.43 points

Mumbai, July 25 (UNI): The BSE Sensex was up 173.43 points to 38,021.08 following gains in HDFC and Infosys ahead of July derivatives expiry, amid positive global cues.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 44.25 points to 11,315.55.

The Nifty recorded intra-day high and low at 11,361.40 and 11,274.90 points respectively.

The sectoral indices like materials, FMCG, finance, healthcare and IT pushed the market positively in early trade.

The gainers were IndusInd Bank by 3.57 pc to Rs 1410, Bajaj Auto by 1.58 pc to Rs 2562.25, Powergrid by 1.55 pc to Rs 213, Sun Pharma by 1.40 pc to Rs 431.65 and Axis Bank by 1.27 pc to Rs 720.15.

The losers were Tata Motors by 1.39 pc to Rs 149.15, M & M by 0.98 pc to Rs 544.45, HCL Tech by 0.90 pc to Rs 1011.95 and Tata Motors DVR by 0.83 pc to Rs 71.60.
