FIEO to host its 5th and 6th set of Eastern Region export excellence award in Bengal

Kolkata, Aug 25 (IBNS): FIEO (Federation of Indian Export Organisation) sees the strong flow of exports in Eastern India especially in the Iron and Steel sector and hence will host its 5th and 6th set of Eastern Region export excellence award in West Bengal.

Iron and Steel, Gold and Gems and Jewelry, Petroleum products and marine products occupied some of the top segments with regards to exports in West Bengal.

In the Indian Economy, the sum total of exports contributes substantially to the countries GDP.

India's GDP in 2018-19 stood at US $ 2.7 trillion. During the same period, India's export of goods touched an all-time high of US $ 331 billion and US $ 204 billion in services.

On average export contributes to about 20% of India's GDP for the financial year 2018-19. 

"We at FIEO are continuing to endeavor to seek fresh contacts with newer and upcoming markets with import demand so that it can boost export prospects of our members and others to add to the countries foreign exchange. FIEO believes nothing moves forward without proper acknowledgement. For this year's award their are 23 companies and 38 individuals who are being felicitated and awarded," Sushil Patwari, Chairman FIEO, Eastern India said.

We hope and expect that such award ceremonies will serve to bring out better performances in our export figures in this part of the country. This year there is a special segment where we are honoring women exporters and entrepreneurs" he stated.

Bruce Bucknell, British Deputy High Commissioner, Kolkata was also present on the occasion.
