BSNL, MTNL to be merged, Cabinet approves revival plan
Mumbai: The Indian Cabinet has approved the revival plan for two ailing telecom companies Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL).
The Indian government on Wednesday announced the in-principle merger of the two.
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "Attractive VRS packages to be offered."
Prasad said 4G spectrum will be allocated to BSNL and MTNL.
"We want to make them more competitive," he said.
