Kolkata/IBNS: Marking its entry into the premium hatchback segment, automobile major Tata Motors on Thursday unveiled their Altroz car in Kolkata.

The Altroz will be available in five trim levels across all Tata Motors authorized dealerships at an introductory price starting from INR 5.29 lakhs for the petrol version and INR 6.99 lakhs for the diesel version.

It is the first vehicle developed on the new ALFA architecture and the second vehicle showing the Impact 2.0 design language.

With its striking design, a bouquet of industry-first features and the most recent achievement of Global NCAP 5-star rating, it has set the Gold Standard in safety, design, driving dynamics, technology and customer delight, the company said.

All set to entice customers, Altroz will come with 6 different factory-fitted customizable options to be chosen from 4 packs – the Rhythm, Style, Luxe and Urban.

Hosting a mega-blockbuster launch event, Tata Motors also simultaneously launched 3 fully BSVI ready cars, becoming the first manufacturer to introduce 4 models in a single event.

Leading the line-up with the Altroz, the showcases for the event included the Tiago, Tigor (safest in their category) and the Nexon.

These cars are not just fully BSVI ready but offer a lot more to the aspiring Indian customers.

Additionally, with the introduction of the Altroz and the Nexon, Tata Motors also becomes the first OEM to launch BS-VI ready diesel variants in their respective segments.

The car has been unveiled at a time when from Apr 1 the automobile sector will have to comply with BS-VI fuel norms in the country.

Tata Motors' zonal manager (East) Reetesh Vashist told media that the industry is slowly reviving.

"In the last quarter of this fiscal, we can see that the industry is reviving and sentiments are improving," he said.

Tata Motor's vice president (Global design) Pratap Bose said the car has been designed by keeping the requirement of the consumers in mind.

"The Atroz is already a product that we are proud of as it is the second Tata as well as Indian car, to have received a 5-star Global NCAP rating," he said.

"We are promising to provide the best driving experience to the customers with the model," he said.

The New BSVI Range:

With class-leading design aesthetics, the entire range now is aligned as per Impact 2.0 Design language and will be available across authorized sales outlets.

The new Nexon will be available in 1.2L Revotron turbocharged petrol BSVI engine and 1.5L Revotorq turbocharged diesel BSVI engine and will command a starting price of INR 6.95 lakhs and INR 8.45 lakhs respectively. Staying on course, the Nexon 2020 has been developed to take the drive experience to NEX LEVEL with best-in-class safety features and will be the first car from Tata Motors to feature the ‘iRA Tech’ – the new connected car technology, which has been designed specifically for India and caters to its unique driving conditions. ‘iRA Tech’ consists of technologies such as What3Words, Connected Safety, Natural Voice system and the Tribes app. The Nexon 2020 will be offered in 6-speed manual and AMT options.

The Tiago 2020 will be the successor to a highly-successful first-generation Tiago, which is currently being driven by 2.5 lakh happy customers. The Tiago 2020 sports a more confident, mature design while being young, premium and fun. The car will be available in both manual and AMT options. It will be available in a 1.2L Revotron petrol BSVI engine and will be available at a starting price of INR 4.60 lakhs.
