Uttar Pradesh retains fifth position in terms of exports from India despite the pandemic
Lucknow/IBNS: Uttar Pradesh (UP) retained its fifth position in terms of exports despite the pandemic, according to a release by the state government.
Goods such as rice, medicines, carpets, silk, fertilizers, sugar, toys, fish products, etc. from the state saw an increasing demand from abroad, the note said.
The Uttar Pradesh government led by CM Yogi Adityanath ensured ‘ease of doing business’ to offer concessions to exporters, so that all the products can be easily shipped abroad.
According to the latest data released by the central government, Uttar Pradesh outpaced many states, including Telangana, Kerala, Punjab, and West Bengal, in terms of export during the pandemic.
UP has come out with a new export policy, the note said.
Between April 2020 and November 2020, goods (including milk, flour, sugar, artificial flowers, rice, silk, etc.) worth Rs 72,508 crore were exported from UP.
Similarly, during the same period, export of flour, bakery products, and milk doubled over the previous year i.e. products worth Rs 79.52 crore were exported.
Between April and November 2020, food grains worth Rs 1,054.20 crore were exported.
There are more than 10 thousand exporters in the state.
Uttar Pradesh has also started working towards developing the ‘Make in UP’ brand.
