How 5G Will Contribute To Gaming Industry In India?

| @indiablooms | 12 Jul 2021, 11:45 am

5G will set the benchmark for the next level of connectivity technology in India. Many countries are already enjoying 5G networks and India will soon join the list. No matter how long the delay is, it is for sure that India will get a 5G network or a variation of it, as the Government of India is also considering having 5Gi, a variation of 5G that is made in India. The impact of 5G in the country will be huge in both public and private sectors.

During COVID-19 lockdown, when almost the entire country was locked inside the house, many people resorted to gaming. As a result, the e-gaming industry saw a huge boost in India. From games like PUBG to Among US, almost all the global multiplayer games were an extreme hit in India. Now that the economy is opening up and people have started moving out, the gaming industry will need to work hard to retain the attention of the existing gamers while attracting new gamers too. Thankfully, the 5G technology can help the gaming industry to grow further.

5G to bring a revolutionary change in the gaming industry

Along with itself, 5G will bring a huge change for the gaming industry for good. Without a doubt, the 4G network connection is stable and good enough that the users can use this network to play heavy games like PUBG and Freecell. However, it is not the best network available when the network becomes congested due to heavy traffic. However, this won’t be the issue with the 5G network. Firstly, it is because the network capacity of 5G is much better than the 4G network. Secondly, with the 5G network, the players can say goodbye to the worry of real-time gaming. The real issue with 4G is that the latency rate keeps on fluctuating but 5G can ensure a constant low latency rate. The low latency rate supported by 5G will ensure that heavy multiplayer games are played seamlessly.

Cloud gaming will become possible using 5G

One of the major drawbacks of 4G in gaming is that it fails to process the data of the game simply by sending the signal back to the cloud servers from where it was received for the first time with the updated information. One major reason behind this issue is that the servers of the games are located at faraway locations and it is so far that 4G networks fail to receive and transmit the signal at an immensely high speed to ensure real-time play. As cloud gaming is not possible using 4G, most of the data of the game are saved and processed locally in the smartphone. However, that will no longer be the case when 5G arrives in India. It is because 5G will support an internet speed of 1Gbps which will ensure that cloud servers are successfully used to manage online gaming. Further, 5G will eliminate the need for the server to sync individual devices for games like Klondike Solitaire. In short, 5G will ensure better real-time gaming.

What changes will 5G bring for online games?

Most of the gamers are social, especially in the gaming network and perhaps, this is the reason why multi-player games are on the rise. The three major ways in which 5G will improve gaming is by reducing the latency rate, improved multi-player experience by increasing capacity and cloud-based gaming. With the introduction of 5G, the gamers can finally say bye to the lagging of the dropped frames. Further, the all-new 5G will be able to handle the internet traffic in a better manner especially in the urban areas where a single transmission mat supports a large number of connections. With improved experience in gaming, the revenue of the gaming industry might improve. A report by ABI Research has indicated that 5G will result in an increase of US $1.9 billion by including cloud gaming by 2024. With 5G, it is possible for the gamers to jump from one game to another immediately which will result in a fast boarding experience. Overall, the 5G will immensely improve the experience of the gamers which will further boost the gaming industry of the country which will increase the revenue of the industry too.
