Sensex jumps 638.70 pts riding on metal, telecom, tech stocks

Mumbai/UNI: Snapping a losing streak of last three sessions, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex on Thursday rallied 638.70 pts to close at 52,837.21 on the strength of metal, telecom, capital goods and technology stocks.

The Nifty too rose by 191.95 pts to 15,824.05

Tumbling 958 pts in the last three sessions, the Sensex opened higher by 396 pts to 52,594.56 and further surged by 869 pts to 52,867 days high before closing at 52,837.21, advancing by 638.70 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered day's high and low at 52,867.26 and 52,471.23 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,831.80 and 15,726.40 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Metal, Telecom, Capital Goods, Industrials and Technology stocks pushed the market up.

In scrips, Tech Mahindra a major gainer up by 5.65 pc to Rs 1148.45 followed by, Bajaj Finance by 4 pc, while Bajaj Finserv, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel gained by 3 pc.

The Mid Cap and Small Cap rose by 1.49 and 1.52 pc respectively. In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 declined.
