Volvo Car India reschedules SUV launch XC40 Recharge
Gurugram/IBNS: Volvo Car India has rescheduled the launch and subsequent bookings of its first all-electric SUV XC40 Recharge due to worldwide shortage of semiconductors, according to a statement issued by the company.
"The global shortage of semiconductors has resulted in Volvo having to reschedule the production of XC40 Recharge. Subsequently, Volvo Car India has also decided to defer the bookings and launch of the XC40 Recharge to early next year," said Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India.
The company said it will continue to deliver the current lineup, adding that its XC40 and S60 petrol variants are already available in India
As part of its commitment to phase out diesel cars by the end of 2021, the carmaker will introduce petrol variants of its premium sedan S90 and mid-size luxury SUV XC60, he said.
"This is in line with our ambition to become a full electric car company by 2030,” Malhotra said.
