Tata Sons acquire Air India bid, Ratan Tata tweets 'welcome back'
New Delhi: Tata Sons on Friday won the bid to acquire India's national carrier Air India.
The conglomerate placed a winning bid of ₹ 18,000 crore re-acquire the airline.

More than half a century ago, the salt-to-software conglomerate had ceded control over the airlines to the government.

Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan N Tata reacted immediately after the successful bid by the conglomerate to acquire the airlines brand and tweeted: "Welcome back, Air India."
