New Delhi/IBNS: Six properties of state-owned telecom carriers Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) have been put up for bidding on the MSTC portal.

This is part of the government's plan to monetise non-core assets for the Rs 68,000-crore revival package for loss-making telecom public sector enterprises MTNL and BSNL.

The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) is conducting the auction. "Non-core asset monetisation commences with the first set of six properties of BSNL/MTNL bid out on the MSTC portal," DIPAM secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey tweeted on Saturday.

According to the declaration issued on the auction portal, four properties belonging to BSNL and two belonging to MTNL have been put up for sale.

MTNL provides telecom services in Delhi and Mumbai, while BSNL provides services across the country except for these cities.

MTNL had recommended for sale Vasai Hill, Mulund and Simpholi in Mumbai, shop-cum-office complexes in Delhi and residential quarters in Noida, which will be monetised in the first phase, ET reported.
