New Delhi/IBNS: The price of tomatoes at the all-India level, as of December 21 dropped by 12.89 percent as compared to last one week and by 23.69 percent as compared to last one month, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said Wednesday.

Prices of tomatoes as of 21.12.2021 for all the major cities in India were lower when compared to the corresponding prices one week ago and one month ago.

In Delhi, tomatoes sold at Rs 43 on December 21 while it was Rs 63 a month ago.

In Mumbai, the shoppers spent Rs 41 on December 21 compared to Rs 54 a month ago.

In Chennai, Tomato cost Rs 42 on that date while it was Rs 100 a month ago.

Major markets in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi, have been seeing an increase in arrivals, and hence a correction in prices in the past few days.

The wholesale prices of tomato are forecasted to go down as crop from Rajasthan is in the market and crop from other states is expected to arrive by end of December.

Due to subdued rains, the supply disruption in Maharashtra and Gujarat has resolved and most of the retail markets have seen a decrease in the prices.
