India head of Elon Musk's Starlink resigns
Bengaluru/IBNS: Elon Musk-owned Starlink's India director Sanjay Bhargava announced on January 4 that he has resigned from his post at the satellite internet venture.
Bhargava said his resignation stood effective from December 31, 2021 onwards.
"I have stepped down as Country Director and Chairman of the Board of Starlink India for personal reasons. My last working day was December 31, 2021," Bhargava wrote on his LinkedIn page.
Bhargawa, who is an IIT Ahmedabad and IIT Bombay alumni, joined Starlink in 2021.
Earlier on Tuesday, Starlink told its members that the Indian government had asked it to refund all its pre-orders until it receives licences to operate in the country.
Though Starlink, which is a wing of Musk's SpaceX aerospace company, has received over 5,000 pre-orders, in the absence of commercial licences, it cannot offer any service in India.
The Indian government has advised people to not subsribe to Starlink without a licence and ordered it to refund the money along with a warning to refrain from taking bookings and rendering services.
