Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata is a proud owner of a custom-built 72V Nano EV, manufactured by Electra EV, a company founded by him for powertrain solutions to automakers.
Earlier last week, Tata was photographed alongside his executive assistant Shantanu Naidu, taking the delivery of the custom-made electric Nano.
In the caption, Electra EV wrote, “It is a moment of truth for Team Electra EV when our Founder takes a ride in the custom-built 72V Nano EV, powered by the engineering might of Electra EV’s powertrain! We are super proud to deliver Mr Tata’s Nano EV and gain insights from his invaluable feedback. #SuperChargedTeam #Sustainablility #EVPowertrainIndia."
Under the post, Shantanu Naidu appreciated the electric car’s performance and wrote, “It glided more than it drove…good job”. So far, the post has gathered over 36,271 likes and hundreds of comments.
Based in Maharashtra's Pune, Electrodrive Powertrain Solutions Pvt. Ltd. or Electra EV offers relevant and affordable EV powertrain solutions, systems, and services to support OEMs, orchestrators, and tier-1 suppliers, according to the website of the company.
Electra EV also works with global electric mobility providers to enable optimized EV powertrain solutions for Asian markets.
So far, battery-powered Tata cars - Tigor EV and Nexon EV - have had a successful track record.
A Linkedin user commented, “I believe Tata Nano Electric would be a success if it was made into production, we have seen the success of NEXON EV and TIGOR EV. Everyone wants a small city electric car that is easy to drive in city traffic. Nano fits the gap. Easy to drive and easy to park.”
Electra EV started operations in 2017 and has a production facility in Coimbatore, where it manufactures lithium-ion battery packs, electric motors, and electronic control systems.
