Bengaluru: Edtech company Physics Wallah is the latest online education venture to enter the unicorn club after it raised $100 million in its first ever funding round led by WestBridge Capital and GSV Ventures, media reports said.

Post the funding, the company is valued at $1.1 billion. Unicorns are startups that are valued at $1 billion or more.

Other edtech companies that have earned the unicorn status are Byju's, Vedantu, Unacademy, Eruditus, UpGrad among others.

The company plans to use the fund for expansion, including branding, opening more offline learning centres and introducing more courses.

Physics Wallah also plans to offer course content in vernacular languages Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Odia and Kannada.

The startup plans to penetrate the regional markets and connect with 250 million students by 2025, the company said.
