Reliance Jio: Mukesh Ambani resigns; Akash Ambani named new chairman
Mumbai: The Reliance Jio board named Akash Ambani as the new chairman on Tuesday, a day after Mukesh Ambani's resignation from the post of company director came into effect.
Akash Ambani had been serving as the non-executive director on the board of the company.
His tenure for the position has been fixed at five years starting from June 27, 2022.
"In accordance with the circular dated June 20, 2018, issued by the Stock Exchanges, we hereby confirm that Raminder Singh Gujral and KV Chowdary are not debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any Securities and Exchange Board of India order or any other such authority," said the company.
Pankaj Mohan Pawar has been appointed the new managing director of the company, while Raminder Singh Gujral and KV Chowdary have been included as additional directors of the company, designated as independent directors.
Pawar has served as a director on the telco's board and he replaces Sanjay Mashruwala, the outgoing MD of the company.
